Construction company Leadbitter announced a new £8 million framework partnership with Sanctuary Housing Association at the Chartered Institute of Housing’s Annual Conference and Exhibition in Harrogate (June 19 – 21).
Under the agreement, 73 new affordable homes will be built in the South West.
Leadbitter Managing Director Bob Rendell announced the news during a televised interview which was beamed across plasma screens to hundreds of exhibitors at Harrogate’s International Conference Centre on June 20.
The new complex will be built on a brownfield site, a former clay mine, called Jetty Marsh, in Newton Abbot and forms part of a larger regeneration initiative in the area which has also seen work start on a new NHS hospital.
“I was delighted to announce the news at the CIH conference. It was a moral boost to all the staff who attended the conference and it really demonstrated how well we work with stakeholder partners in framework agreements such as this” said Bob Rendell.
“I believe our tender was successful because we do understand what mixed tenure is. We do understand sustainability. We do understand innovation. We do provide a value added service and we have the track record which proves it.”
Work on the development is expected to start sometime in the New Year. The development will include a mixture of one and two bedroom properties. |
