The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Gary Allport, opened North Solihull Sports Centre after cutting the ceremonial ribbon on Thursday 9th August.
This centre now offers a new 100 station gym, aerobics studio and health suite with redeveloped crèche and changing rooms. The centre remained open to the public while the building was refurbished.
Cabinet Member for Quality of Life and Neighbourhoods, Councillor Mrs Diana Holl-Allen, said: ‘We have always said that people in Solihull deserve great leisure centres and it is fantastic to see these new state-of-the-art facilities completed. I am sure people will enjoy using them.’
The re-opening of North Solihull Sports Centre is in addition to the new £12 million sports and leisure centre at Tudor Grange. Leadbitter continues to progress well on the new complex which is due to open in the New Year.
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has entered into a public/private partnership deal which means the leisure centre will be leased to Parkwood PFI over 30 years. Parkwood has set up a company called Rivendell Leisure to run the new complex during this period. |
