Client: Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust
The Royal Hamadryad Hospital, Cardiff re-opened its doors earlier this year, offering the local community new Day Centre and Drop-In Clinic facilities.
The original hospital was built in 1903 as a naval hospital and remained in service until 2002. To accommodate a planned change of use by the NHS, Leadbitter has completed works to extend, refurbish and modernise the two existing Edwardian Buildings and construct a new ‘link’ building between them.
The listed chimneys were restored to their original form and floors, windows and the traditional tiled roof were replaced as part of the renovation.
The buildings now provide offices, NHS consulting rooms and facilities for the Community Mental Health and Crisis Resolution Team of Cardiff and the Vale NHS Trust. |
