Client: Cardiff City Council
This construction of forty eight new houses included two and three storey bespoke designs and pattern book layouts. The introduction of a 'Home Zone' provided a strong link between the recreation ground and the new development using informal planting, bollards and low walls.
The scheme included the re-use of materials wherever possible, with demolition rubble crushed on site and used as hardcore for the new development plus insulation from recycled newspaper used in the timber frame wall construction. Welsh products were used as much as possible to minimise transportation, including solar panels and ventilation systems.
This development was category winner of the Local Authority Building Control National ‘Built in Quality Awards’. |
