This new facility provides young people with accommodation, assistance and support to help re-establish themselves back into society after struggling with society or problems within their own home environment.
The building features forty en-suite bedsits, twenty eight fully self-catered units and twelve with shared kitchen facilities, along with a full catering kitchen, restaurant area, offices and meeting rooms. The facilities provide function areas for a wide variety of community work groups and accommodation is available to both the general public and members of YMCA England. Funding has been provided by YMCA England and the ODPM Housing Association.
Special features within the building include remote CCTV viewing, secure concept with ninety two cameras, eighty four door locking devices and entrance doors which are linked to the security and telephone system to allow remote access. The project has been recognised and awarded for its safe secure environment by ‘Secure by Design’, the UK Police flagship. |
