Client: Oxford University Boat Club
This new two-storey structure comprises three integral buildings: Dry Boat House, Wet Boat House and a link building constructed on a 20m radius.
Located at first floor level are two club rooms, which span over both of the boat houses, and a caretaker’s flat above the wet boat house. Other facilities include changing areas, brief and de-brief rooms and a physiotherapy room.
Architectural qualities of the buildings include feature metalwork and glazing which form the curved terraces and balconies at first floor level and the curved stainless steel roof over the link building. The structural glazing to both of the club houses present panoramic views across the river.
Constructed along side the River Thames the building has been designed to accommodate flooding. The Dry Boat House will accommodate flood levels of 1.2m and the link building is raised to avoid flood water. |
