Client: London Borough of Hillingdon
Funded by the London Borough of Hillingdon, together with a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant, the Grade II Listed Uxbridge Lido, which was originally opened in 1935, will be completely transformed to create a state-of-the-art leisure complex.
The existing outdoor pool will be completely restored to its former glory and a new 50m indoor swimming pool will be built (the first in West London since Crystal Palace in the 1960s) together with an area of children’s leisure waters, health and fitness suite and community sports hall. The Grade II listed architectural features of the Lido
will be retained in the final scheme.
This unique £21 million development, which combines sensitive restoration of the historic lido with a significant new build, will provide a state of the art, competition standard facility, fit for the 21st century and the Country’s 2012 Olympic training. Hosting the Olympics means a great deal to the Country and we are thrilled to be playing a part in its success as well as enhancing the facilities available for local residents.
