William Durrant School benefited from extensive refurbishment of the entire school, undertaken in four sectional completions which allowed the school to remain open and operational throughout. Works included the renewal of all windows, external doors and a new front entrance to the school. In addition the existing library and administration block was extended. To facilitate the amalgamation of the adjacent infant school, a new nursery extension was added to the rear of the main school.
The central courtyard was redeveloped and the pond and stepped terrace replaced with ramped sections and decorative paving including a chess board and compass. A canopy was provided around the courtyard, along with a soft play area.
External works included a new paved entrance to the new school entrance and development of the area between the nursery and playground. A new playground was constructed at the rear of the site. |
