Client: Bath and North East Somerset Council

This project provides for the re-provision of all the Authority’s current Elderly Persons Care Homes on four strategically placed sites. Each site provides residential and EMI beds (30 to 45), an EMI day care centre and sheltered flats (30) creating individual ‘centres of excellence’ that will cater for elderly persons across a range of needs and abilities. The buildings are traditional in construction with off-site fabrication of components incorporated into the design along with the latest innovative technology used to support the elderly in their daily lives.

Under the PPC arrangement, Leadbitter is involved in the whole process from inception to completion, assisting the Client and Design Team to find the most cost effective solution throughout each stage of the design. Working across four projects, the scheme benefits from the continuity of involvement of key supply chain partners and standardisation of design. Monitoring using KPIs and an incentives process down the supply chain is providing cost benefits to the individual projects. The design process has involved extensive consultation with over 80 different stakeholders.
