Sailing is a key interest of several Leadbitter staff members and the company regularly enters the round the Island Boat Race so it is no surprise that our Main Board has chosen to support the Plymouth Youth Sailing Club. The club provides the opportunity for youngsters from the Sport England Priority Wards of inner city Plymouth to get out on the waters and encourages young members of the community to participate in water sports activities to help them develop their personal and social skills through the medium of the outdoors.
In 2007, for the second year running, Leadbitter sponsored the National Schools Sailing Association Regatta which was organised by Plymouth Youth Sailing Club.
Over 250 youngsters, aged between 9 and 19 years travelled from across the country to compete in four different fleets and special races for a host of trophies. There were approx 180 dinghies including all classes of dinghies from Optimists to RS Fevas. |
