Children’s naivety and natural curiosity makes them the most vulnerable members of our communities. Leadbitter places high priority on ensuring that we spread the health and safety message wherever we work. Visits are made to schools to raise awareness of the health and safety issues that surround a construction site, particularly schools which have works in progress nearby. These have concluded with poster competitions, with artwork used on information boards on site.
Groups of schoolchildren are invited to visit our sites, as part of a campaign aimed at attracting young people
to careers in project
management, architecture and quantity surveying as well as construction skills. These visits provide an insight into the industry and are often followed by a site tour before undertaking practical building
exercises.
Students in the south have been able to 'Meet the Construction Professional' at a series of initiatives. Students have been able to 'grill' our professions during an hour of 'speed networking' on topics including the best ways to forge a successful career in construction.
We have recently launched our 'Leadbitter Experience' initiative for schools. The aim is to provide meaningful and valuable work experience
programmes that offer variety and insight, to enable
further informed thought and decisions on career choice and to provide information and motivation to join the
construction industry in a capacity that inspires them. |
