Leadbitter are committed to the Considerate Constructors Scheme and to the ethos of better management it embodies. 

In March 2007 Simon Thomas received a Gold Award for the construction of 26 new homes for Cardiff Community Housing Association adjacent to a school on the Coed Y Gores Estate, Llanedeyrn. Comments by the assessors included:

• Introductory letters and plans were sent to all neighbours prior to work starting. This was followed by monthly updates, which included a “Kiddies Corner” colouring sheet.
• A site cabin was set up as a multi-functional information centre and manned for two hours every afternoon to deal with site and other local community enquiries. Ethnic group needs were also included.
• “DIY” enthusiasts were offered timber off-cuts and one neighbour, who was organising a charity BBQ, received portable gas lighting units with the company’s compliments.
• Dozens of compliments were received from residents, the school and education committee members. The company’s dedication was commendable and greatly enhanced the perception the public have of the construction industry.
