- Leadbitter have established a Low Carbon Working Group to understand, investigate and then advise our clients on the issues and solutions available to meet the Code for Sustainable Homes requirements in the most cost effective and user friendly way.
- Working in partnership with specialist sustainability consultants we are developing a range of guidance notes and assessment toolkits specifically tailored to the types of affordable developments we undertake. To ensure that we can meet air tightness targets standard robust detailing is being developed along with regular training and seminars with our designer and supply chain partners.
- In November 2007 the Carbon Trust conducted an energy saving assessment of our Head Office in order to assess Leadbitter’s current position and to set targets for energy savings and reduction in our CO2 emissions. The Trust’s report identified our office, which was purpose built by Leadbitter in 2003, as an energy efficient building already incorporating energy efficient technologies and equipment. The Trust recommended that a total saving in energy consumption of 95,420 kWh with an associated drop in CO2 emissions by 26.3 tonnes could be made by implementing eight key actions points relating to adjusting the times during which various systems operate, raising staff awareness and changing personal practices (e.g. switching off computer equipment when not in use.) Changes are being implements and we plan to investigate the efficiency of our other office locations early in 2008.
